"It's just the way things are"
A poem for the people who want more in life.
A budding artist creating her name,
Many pieces already in a frame,
But she’s made to think there’s no future in art,
So her creativity slowly falls apart,
“It’s just the way things are”
From preschool to college,
We had our communities,
Equipped with so much knowledge,
Yet somehow we’re still lost in our twenties,
“It’s just the way things are”
Sitting at a desk and staring at a screen,
9-5 that’s all I’ve seen,
I think it’s sad,
Life could be so much more rad,
“It’s just the way things are”
A society driven by money,
Our attention exploited like it’s nothing,
But we laugh because this video is funny,
While the rich just hear cha-ching,
“It’s just the way things are”
Jobs was praised for thinking differently,
My parents think he was an inspiration really,
His brain was one in a billion,
But mine’s not even one in a million,
“It’s just the way things are”
I want to leave and be free,
Live a life that makes sense to me,
But I’m scared to commit,
Even though this voice won’t quit,
“It’s just the way things are”
